Grandma & Grandpa Oien's 70th Anniversary

I was able to go visit my grandparent's in January out in Washington. Grandma & grandpa with kids on 70th anniversary Grandma is tending to the big gorilla baby. Grandma seemed so distant and quiet the whole time I was there, but I thought that this was so cute and it reminded me of how silly grandma can be. Here is grandpa checking in with grandma to see if she is doing ok. Grandpa is so sweet. After the anniversary party I was walking him outside and dad was getting the car. I thought that I would ask grandpa if he knew who I was. He turned to me and said no, not really. I said I'm Ari. He said Oh, Billy's daughter. Poor grandpa went through highs and lows. Sometimes he was with us and sometimes he wasn't. This is grandma when I first got to see her. I had asked her if she knew who I was. I think she knew who I was. She asked me what grade I was in. I had to tell her I was no longer in school and that I was married with four kids. She gave me a big oh! Then we moved to the sunroom and she said to me my teeth are the same. I feel like she knew who I was, but she is in a very confused state. I love my grandma! When I left I hugged her, kissed her head and told her I love you. She said she loved me too. This is a picture from 2005.
